The 1299 Superleggera is hands down the most impressive and powerful 2 cylinder motorcycle ever produced.  The natural evolution of the 1199 Superleggera, Ducati’s 1299 Superleggera was also produced in a limited run of just 500 units. Just like its predecessor, the focus was on a winning combination of more power and less weight. Courtesy of an oversquare 1,285cc engine, the power figure was raised to a staggering 215hp at 11,000rpm and 108.0 lb-ft torque at 9,000 rpm – plus another 5-7 horsepower with the Akrapovic exhaust included in the “race kit” which is installed on this bike.

Ducati took the world of Supersport road bikes to a completely new level by presenting the 1299 Superleggera, the first standard street bike with carbon fiber frame, carbon fiber swinging arm, carbon fiber subframe and carbon fiber wheels. The 1299 Superleggera is the greatest expression of engineering, technology and performance ever put into mass production by a motorcycle manufacturer.

The quintessence of Ducati is exclusive in everything, even in the limited number of these motorcycles produced: only 500, for a lucky few Ducatistas.The fairing, also made of carbon fiber, is just the tip of the iceberg of a unique project that only a brand like Ducati with racing in its DNA could accomplish.

The exclusivity of the 1299 Superleggera is underlined by the new electronic package that uses an inertial platform system with six axis (6D IMU – Inertial Measurement Unit) to manage the electronic controls that on this bike rise to a level of primacy. This system has made it possible to further develop the Ducati Traction Control EVO (DTC EVO) presented on the 1299 Panigale S Anniversario thanks to the introduction of the Ducati Slide Control (DSC) which ensures even better performance when exiting corners.

The 1299 Superleggera is also the first Ducati Superbike to be equipped with Ducati Power Launch (DPL).  Other electronic riders aids are Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) and Engine Brake Control (EBC), which can be adjusted on the fly while riding. The use of titanium fasters throughout as well as the all of the carbon fiber allowed Ducati to reach the incredible dry weight of 344 lbs.

You will never feel as connected to a motorcycle as you do when riding a 1299 Superleggera.  The amount of torque and power, coupled with the featherweight chassis is a sport bike rider’s dream come true. The installed full titanium Akrapovic racing exhaust offers the most visceral experience on 2 wheels.
